Dr Caroline Guirgis is a specialist General Practitioner. She has a strong belief in providing thorough, evidence based, whole-person care.
She has several special interests including Women's Health, Antenatal Shared Care, including Perinatal mental health care, and Sexual and Reproductive health. She has completed extra training with Family Planning Australia including Implanon insertion and removal. She is a member of the Australian Menopause Society.
Having children of her own, Caroline loves seeing children as patients. She has a Diploma of Child Health from the Sydney Children's Hospital Network and her clinical experience includes further training at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick. She also currently works part time for the Sydney Children's Hospital Network virtual Urgent Care Clinic so has ample experience managing acute illnesses in children.
Dr Guirgis endeavours to focus on preventative health, as well as the problem at hand. She enjoys management of chronic diseases and she has seen first hand how taking a proactive approach leads to positive outcomes. She believes good communication is crucial to delivering the highest standard of healthcare.
She is involved in the training of future specialist General Practitioners. As well as this, she works for NSW Health to write guidelines for optimal care for the South Eastern Sydney Local Health district. These guidelines span all areas of medicine, but she has recently collaborated with local specialists and the hospitals in our area on Pregnancy Care guidelines, an area of passion!
She also has a part time appointment at Sutherland Emergency Department, so has an in depth knowledge of how our health system works, and how to advocate for her patients to best navigate it.
Dr Guirgis was born and raised in the Sutherland Shire and is looking forward to giving back to the local community.
